CSCRM Core Facilities

Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Core Facilities:

• Cell Production Facility- provides 6 Class 10000 clean rooms to perform Phase I and II clinical trials

• Cellular Therapy Integrated Services - provides the regulatory, quality, cell processing/manufacturing, technical, and environmental expertise to support standard-of-care and novel investigational cellular therapies at UHCMC and in Cleveland

• Mesenchymal Stem Cell Production Core- provides standardized human or rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), quality control assays, phenotypic expression analysis, serum screening and training

• Neural & Oligodendrocyte Stem Cell Core- provides primary neural cells (human, mouse, rat), purified oligodendrocytes (rat), purified astrocytes (human, mouse, rat), neural stem cells (neurospheres: human, mouse, rat), consultation and training on cell culture and characterization

• Stem Cell & Tissue Engineering Imaging Core- provides access to state of the art imaging technologies: microPET, microCT, microSPECT (X-Ray/Planar Gamma Scintigraphic Scanning), autoradiography, small animal Magnetic Resonance Imaging, fluorescence, ultrasound and bioluminescence imaging

• Stem Cell & Tissue Histology Core- provides standard histology services (embedding, sectioning, staining, frozen section, brightfield, fluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and image analysis) and access to equipment and instrumentation

• Umbilical Cord Blood Expansion Core- provides the collection, sorting and quality control of umbilical cord blood samples and training

• Pluripotent Stem Cell Facility- provides hands-on training in the culture techniques, characterization, and differentiation of both human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells and Federally-approved human embryonic stem (ES) cells
